IP Filtering

Sometimes dealers will send us a list of their internal IP addresses. We can add them to a particular table in DataGrip so that traffic from these IP addresses will be excluded from web traffic results.

IP Filtering allows web traffic and/or LFI Leads to be reclassified as a different source based on the source IP address.  This is done through the claripedia.ipfilters table in Postgres.

  1. CSL Opens a ticket on the Tickets Board with a list of the IP addresses and the corresponding properties & clients listed.
  2. Ops Team adds new entries to the the claripedia.ipfilters table:
INSERT INTO claripedia.ipfilters (ip_address, description, classification, created_timestamp, updated_timestamp)
VALUES ('THEIPADDRESS'::inet, 'DESCRIPTION', 'NEWSOURCE', DEFAULT, DEFAULT);

where:

  • THEIPADDRESS = the IP address
  • DESCRIPTION = A description (typically the Property Name or Company Name)
  • NEWSOURCE = the new source (typically the Client Name - all lowercase, no spaces)
  1. After inserting the row(s) into the ipfilters table, the CSL may need to classify the new source with channel=internal if they want traffic and leads from that source to be suppressed / not used for attribution.
