INTERNAL FAQ’s (CS, Ops, Sales etc.)
-
What were the former separate sources that are being combined?
- Autotrader and KBB
-
What is the “new” source name?
- “Autotrader/KBB”
-
Won’t this lead to double counting?
-
No. This is an additional benefit of making these changes because we are deduping and providing a unique count of attributed sales rather than just combining the two. We believe this will provide a better overall view into the return on investment for the dealer.

-
Why did we decide to make this change?
-
We are implementing this change to improve the accuracy and consistency of our dashboard, ensuring it accurately reflects dealers’ investments and returns. :: We have been combining attribution for all other marketplace spends (Cars and Cars social, Edmunds and EAS, CarGurus and CG RPM) into one singular source in each instance, but AT and KBB have remained separated (even though the listings are a package deal)

-
What is included in the new/combined source name?
- Attributions from Autotrader and KBB Listings and Vehicle Merchandising & Advertising Packages - the calculation of influence will be a combination and deduplication, the total amount of influenced sales is a unique count of sales influenced by Autotrader/KBB
-
Are we combining all KBB into the source name Autotrader?
- No. KBB offers dealers a separate Instant Cash Offer package (ICO), which becomes a separate line item in our Dashboard with this change.
-
How will we report on a dealer’s KBB ICO spend? Will pageviews to the kbb.com/instant-cash-offer pages be KBB ICO or the new combined source name? What will this look like in the clicktrails?
- “KBB ICO” becomes a new source with this change.
- We deliberately maintained the existing Kelley Blue Book Instant Cash Offer objects. It is NOT rolled up in Autotrader/KBB.
-
Note: if a client did have KBB ICO spend in the wrong source name (KBB), then this will show as an increase to their Autotrader/KBB spend and needs to be removed and replaced to the KBB Instant Cash Offer source
-
What will the clicktrails look like?
-
The clicktrails will now show the source name “Autotrader/KBB” and corresponding channel and response type.

-
When will this change be put in place?
-
We have begun to deploy the changes and you will begin to see changes over the weekend. This will initially affect the most recent 90 days of data, but changes will begin to affect historical data as we update clicktrails over the next several weeks.

What are the changes being made?
-
We are changing the way that the data is labeled in taxonomy,
When you look at the Clarivoy tag data, there will be a new source name that expands across the property ids 423 and 419 (Autotrader/KBB)
All KBB ICO traffic (containing http://kbb.com/instant-cash-offer), is going to attribute to the source name KBB Instant Cash Offer -
we changed all the offline source and call tracking labels in source consolidation to the new source name (they will still appear as they are in dealer CRMs and call tracking systems unless you update them),
You will continue to manage source names the same way you always have, but now need to use either “Autotrader/KBB” OR “KBB Instant Cash Offer” to label the data - and we are also applying new logic to the API layer of the dashboard that allows the filters to work properly and the new calculations to include the combined sources

- ? this will be address soon
-
How does this impact how we manage sources for CRM and Call Tracking data?
-
There will be no change to this data or how we manage it. However, there is a naming convention that needs to be consistent. The only two sources available for CRM and Call tracking are A. “Autotrader/KBB”, and B. “KBB Instant Cash Offer”. NO other sources should be used.

-
Are you sure I am measuring my KBB ICO spend accurately? Is any of this influence now getting included in the new source name?
- Yes. KBB ICO page views are being processed based on the URL string “http://kbb.com/instant-cash-offer” and all of that traffic and any leads labeled ICO are being given the source name KBB Instant Cash Offer
-
What happens to prior ad spend entered for KBB?
-
We will be combining KBB ad-spend with AT ad-spend mechanically in the dashboard to account for all potential occurrences over the lifetime of the dashboard data.
