Consistent naming standards help keep the Clarivoy Dashboard organized, searchable, and easy to maintain. This guide defines the naming conventions for Accounts, Clients, Company Names, and Properties within the DMUI. These standards should be followed whenever creating new records.
Understanding the Hierarchy
The DMUI organizes organizations into four related records.
| Record | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Account | Represents the highest level of the organization, such as a dealership, dealer group, or business. |
| Client | The machine-friendly identifier used internally by the DMUI. |
| Company Name | The human-readable organization name displayed throughout the Dashboard. |
| Property | Represents an individual dealership, rooftop, or business location. |
Account Naming Standards
The Account should always represent the highest level of the organization whenever practical.
Independent Dealership
Use the dealership's advertised business name.
| Business | Account |
|---|---|
| EXAMPLE Ford | EXAMPLE Ford |
Dealer Group
Use the dealer group's name rather than an individual rooftop.
| Dealer Group | Account |
|---|---|
| EXAMPLE Auto Group | EXAMPLE Auto Group |
Whenever possible, copy and paste the Account Name rather than typing it manually.
Client Naming Standards
The Client is the machine-friendly version of the Account.
Always:
- Use lowercase letters.
- Remove spaces.
- Remove punctuation.
- Remove special characters.
- Match the Account whenever practical.
Examples
| Account | Client |
|---|---|
| EXAMPLE Ford | exampleford |
| EXAMPLE Auto Group | exampleautogroup |
Company Name Standards
The Company Name is the properly formatted, human-readable organization name.
In most cases, it should match the Account Name exactly.
Examples
| Client | Company Name |
|---|---|
| exampleford | EXAMPLE Ford |
| exampleautogroup | EXAMPLE Auto Group |
Property Naming Standards
The Property represents an individual dealership or business location.
Whenever possible:
- Use the business name listed on the signed agreement.
- If the agreement references only a website, use the business name displayed on the company's website.
- Copy and paste the Property Name to avoid spelling inconsistencies.
Independent Dealership Example
For independently owned dealerships, all records typically use the dealership's business name.
| Record | Value |
|---|---|
| Account | EXAMPLE Ford |
| Client | exampleford |
| Company Name | EXAMPLE Ford |
| Property | EXAMPLE Ford |
Dealer Group Example
For dealer groups, the organization is represented by the Account while each rooftop becomes its own Property.
| Record | Value |
|---|---|
| Account | EXAMPLE Auto Group |
| Client | exampleautogroup |
| Company Name | EXAMPLE Auto Group |
| Property | EXAMPLE Ford |
| Property | EXAMPLE Honda |
Researching Ownership
When determining how a dealership should be organized:
- AI is an excellent research tool, but it is not the source of truth.
- Verify ownership using reliable public sources before creating new records.
- Similar dealership names, acronyms, or nearby locations do not necessarily indicate common ownership.
Reliable sources include:
- The dealership's website
- Dealer group websites
- Privacy Policies or Terms of Use
- State corporate registration databases
- Other reputable public business records
If ownership cannot be confidently determined, stop and ask for assistance before creating records.
