Third Party Dealer IDs

What are Third Party Dealer IDs?

3PA Keys are "Dealer IDs" from Third Party Auto websites.

What are Third Party Dealer IDs used for?

Display on Third Party Impact Report

If a Third Party Dealer ID is entered on a property and the dealer has granted Third Party Data Sharing Approval for that Third Party, then the Dealer ID will appear on that particular Third Party Impact Report in the Vendor Dealer ID column.

  • A dealer can appear in the Third Party Impact Report without having a 3P ID entered, as long as their 3P Data Sharing Permission for the particular third party is set to true in sales.third_party_impact_permissions
  • Their dealer ID will not appear on their row in the Impact Report, however, if it is not entered on the property, but this does not prevent their data from appearing.

Edmunds Leads

Edmunds will give us leads from Edmunds.com (Edmunds delivers leads to our SFTP and they get processed by a specific SFTP DAG)

Third Party Auto page

Third Party Auto Page is populated with clickthroughs and total leads from 3P auto website

Pageviews - No Longer Displayed

When Third Party Dealer IDs are entered into the DMUI (Data Management → Properties → 3rd Party screen), the ID is used to collect dealer Pageviews from the third party site.  The third party pageviews are stored in TreasureData and as of April 2025, they are not used for any purpose or displayed in the DMUI anymore.

Prior to December 2023, the Sales Attribution → Third Party Auto page used to display Third Party Pageviews.  These pageviews were hidden/removed on December 20, 2023.

For the full explanation, see the Confluence article What are Third Party Pageviews being used for today?.

Locating Third Party Dealer IDs

Note: You may use the 3PA Key Helper Excel Tool to help you easily search the web for the keys.

DO NOT Enter the same 3rd party key on more than 1 property. Doing so will result in duplication of clicktrails, and sometimes (in the case of Edmunds leads) throw errors and stop processing server jobs.

Autotrader/KBB

USA Only - you must search Google (So Dick Hannah Honda, for instance, you would search “Dick Hannah Honda site:autotrader.com”). The IDs can be found in the URL after the zip code (in this instance it will be 50547135). The AT and KBB IDs are the same.
Canadian Dealerships are not on AutoTrader or KBB - See Trader.ca below.

Carfax

USA Only

Use Chrome to search Google to find the dealer's CARFAX page (For example: for Dick Hannah Honda you would search “Dick Hannah Honda site:carfax.com”).

Right click on the page and choose Inspect

CTRL+F to find

Search for compCode

The ID will be the value in quotes following "compCode":
COPY the ID. Sometimes zero and the letter O can look similar!
(in the example below, the ID is BOUHVU5XT1)

The ID may look similar to part of the URL but there are usually multiple letters transposed, so you cannot take the ID from the URL like we do with other Third Parties.

We sill not start receiving data from CARFAX until (1) the dealer has returned a signed Data Use Agreement to CARFAX [this is CARFAX's responsibility to request, not Clarivoy's] and (2) CARFAX has placed our Clarivoy tag on the dealer's VDP

CarGurus

USA and Canada - You must search Google (example: for Adventure Subaru, you would search "Adventure Subaru site:cargurus.com").
Once you have loaded the dealer's CarGurus page, right click in Google Chrome and choose "Inspect".
Search (CTRL+F) for sellerId. The ID is the number immediately following "sellerID":
(in this example it is 868155)
Canadian Dealerships are often found on CarGurus.

Cars.com

USA Only - Reference this list:
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/69x6sw4q39142fdgky2v0/2024-01-09-Clarivoy_Cars.com-Dealer-List-with-CCID.xlsx?rlkey=todeow4hr2xwy8cxvavqepie2&dl=0

OR You must search Google (So Dick Hannah Honda, for instance, you would search “Dick Hannah Honda site:cars.com”). The IDs can be found at the end of the URL (in this instance it will be 90200).
Canadian Dealerships are not on Cars.com.

Edmunds

USA Only - DO NOT Enter the same Edmunds key on more than 1 property.
Can be found in the list located here: https://www.dropbox.com/home/Clients%20&%20Partners/Edmunds/active_cdd_dealerships_04-02-2017.xlsx
Use the “cdd_dealership_id” column. Note the list is very old.

OR go to Edmunds.com/dealerships and enter the zipcode and make of the dealership. If you locate the dealership, click "View Dealer Page". If there is a number component to the URL for the Dealer Page, that is the Edmunds Key (in the example below, the ID is 1878722). There is about a 50% chance of getting the key there. If there is no numeric portion of the URL there, see the next step below.
Canadian Dealerships are not on Edmunds.

If there is no numeric portion to that dealer's Edmunds page, scroll down to their inventory section.
Click on either "See Inventory" or "See All Inventory". On the following page, the numeric portion after
"dealerlocationid=" will be the Edmunds ID (in the example below, the ID is 19015).

When entering Edmunds IDs in the DMUI, the Status must be set to "configured" (not "active" like the other third parties).

Kijiji

Canada Only - You must search Google (example: for ReCar Moncton, you would search "ReCar Moncton site:kijiji.ca")
The ID is the numeric portion in the middle of the URL (in this instance it will be 26136).

Trader.ca

(now Autotrader.ca) - Canada Only - You must search Google (example: for ReCar Saint John you would search "ReCar Saint John site:autotrader.ca")
The ID can be found as the "cofid" in the URL (in this instance it will be 20190225172506155).
You must append a 5- to the beginning of the ID before entering the ID into the DMUI.
In this example, you would enter 5-20190225172506155 into the DMUI.

Alternate Method: All Third Party IDs must be queried in TreasureData by CS Engineer or Ops Specialist. Use the below query. THIS QUERY TAKES ABOUT 5 MINUTES PER DEALER, so it is not an efficient method and we will not be using this on a regular basis.

SELECT td_url, tpa_dealer_ids, clarivoy_property_id FROM hits.third_party_pageviews
WHERE time BETWEEN 1651363200 AND 1654012224 -- (May1-31, 2022) get date from https://www.epochconverter.com/ --
AND td_url LIKE 'https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/m-McCluskey-Chevrolet%'
LIMIT 50;

Entering Third Party Dealer IDs in the DMUI

  1. Go to Data Management -> Properties in the navigation bar on the left
  2. Search for the Property
  3. Click blue “3rd Party” button next to the property
  4. Select the appropriate Third Party Vendor on the left side of the page
  5. Enter the ID.
DO NOT Enter the same 3rd party key on more than 1 property. Doing so will result in duplication of clicktrails, and sometimes (in the case of Edmunds) throw errors and stop processing server jobs.
  6. Make sure Status=”active” for all EXCEPT Edmunds
For Edmunds, the Status must be set to "configured" (or else we won't get the leads)
For Edmunds, if disabling, set the status to "disabled". For all others, to disable, set status to "inactive".
  7. Press “Update”
  8. For Cars.com only: Press “Validate” to make sure the code is correct.
  9. If an old ID already exists, you can simply change it and press “Update”.
  10. You can set old/inactive logins to Inactive.
  11. Clients may have multiple IDs for the same vendor if:
    1. Multiple locations/rooftops, but only 1 Clarivoy property
    2. Multiple pages on a 3rd party site for the same rooftop (if a multi brand dealership)
